My Story: From Survival to Vibe High Tribe

Vibe High Tribe is more than a business to me.

It represents survival. Resilience. Faith. Reinvention. And the decision to keep moving forward even when life gives you every reason to stop.

My name is Chivas J. Mays, and before I became the woman behind Vibe High Tribe, I had to survive some of the most difficult seasons of my life.

I am a survivor of domestic violence.

There was a time when domestic violence completely disrupted my life and contributed to me becoming homeless while raising my three daughters. As a mother, there is a different kind of fear that comes with trying to survive while also knowing that three little lives are depending on you.

There were moments when I didn’t know exactly how everything was going to work out.

But I knew one thing:

I could not give up.

My daughters needed me, and somewhere underneath the pain, fear, uncertainty, and exhaustion, I knew there was still more life ahead of me.

So I kept going.

I rebuilt.

Not overnight. Not perfectly. And definitely not without setbacks.

But step by step, I began creating a different life.

My experiences eventually became part of my purpose. I went from experiencing domestic violence myself to advocating for other people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, homelessness, and other difficult circumstances.

I learned something important along that journey:

Surviving is only the beginning.

There comes a point when you have to decide what life looks like after survival.

For me, that meant learning how to protect my peace, believe in myself again, experience life, create memories with my family, pursue my education, grow professionally, build something of my own, and stop allowing my past to determine the limits of my future.

That mindset is where the spirit of Vibe High Tribe comes from.

What Does Vibe High Tribe Mean?

Vibe High Tribe is about choosing a higher way of living.

It is about protecting your energy.

Choosing peace.

Choosing growth.

Choosing healing.

Choosing joy.

Choosing experiences.

Choosing yourself.

And surrounding yourself with people, places, thoughts, and opportunities that encourage you to become the person you were created to be.

It doesn’t mean life is perfect.

My life certainly hasn’t been.

Building Vibe High Tribe hasn’t always been easy either. There have been moments when business has been slow. There have been times when I’ve questioned whether people understood the vision. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced frustration, uncertainty, financial challenges, and moments when quitting probably would have been easier.

But then I remember what I’ve already survived.

If I could rebuild my life after domestic violence and homelessness while raising my children, I can certainly keep building a dream.

And that’s exactly what I’m doing.

This Brand Represents More Than Products

When you see a Vibe High Tribe tumbler, beverage, piece of merchandise, or another product carrying our name, I want you to understand that there is a story behind that logo.

It represents a woman who had to rebuild.

A mother who kept going.

A survivor who refused to allow her worst experiences to become the final chapter of her story.

A woman who decided that life wasn’t going to be only about surviving, working, paying bills, and repeating the same routine until time ran out.

I want to live.

I want to travel.

I want to laugh.

I want to create memories.

I want to build businesses.

I want to help people.

I want to love my family.

I want to enjoy the life God has given me.

And I want other people to know they are allowed to want those things too.
